Northern Pintails

I had never seen so many birds in one place before! The sky was almost blotted out as the Pintails (Anas acuta) rose one after the other from the water cackling trying to escape a hunting marsh harrier. The loud whoosh of their beating wings, the commotion all around was an amazing spectacle.
