Stairway To Heaven

I bow before thee, my master of metal on four wheels.
The lights fell
From the heavens
Streaking our senses
With raw emotion
The skies split apart
And showered us
With shattered sounds
And sizzling colors
It was a night
Of pomp and passion
It was a night
Of visual violence
I spent a delightful weekend with some friends in Wurzburg, which is in the south of Germany and therefore could not post anything new for the past few days. As usual I came back with a bunch of photos which I now need to process. So until I can post something from that trip here is something from Cologne instead, taken about 10 days back.
This was shot wide open in very low light conditions, at high ISO and inside a dimly lit, Cuban themed pub. Therefore, it is a little soft in terms of sharpness and has some noise. But inspite of all that I quite like the way this looks. Has a certain mellow mood to it. Almost like the way one feels after two drinks-reflective and melancholic, thinking about past good times with a nostalgic smile playing on one’s face!
Nothing much to say here. This was taken in Heidelberg.
When in Heidelberg we were lucky enough to catch the fireworks show, which is held only twice a year apparently. This is not the best fireworks photo I got but I like it for its electric nature if you see what I mean. I only wish I had got the whole of the blast in the frame.
Let’s go back to Vienna again. This is supposed to be one of the oldest running ferris wheel’s in the world, a more modern version of which is the London eye. You can take a ten minutes ride in it and see quite a bit of Vienna. This was shot hand held.
Although I had intended to post a color version of yesterday’s photo I ended up liking the way today’s photo shaped up so here it is instead. This is the same base of the Athena statue in front of the Viennese parliament, two photos of which I had posted a few days back, albeit in color.
I had gone to an amusement park in Vienna which has (apparently) one of the oldest running ferris wheel in the world. There they had a small exhibition of sorts wherein various tableaux showed Vienna at different time periods in the past. This was Vienna after WWII if I remember correctly. I might post a color version of the same tomorrow.
