The Seasons

The Seasons
sound their silent bells
before time

Cold rain
washing the dry
dust, off the reluctant trees

Wet dogs and dripping
cats huddle like
shipwrecked survivors
under lonely park benches

The sulking sun
suddenly steps out
to create
god’s seventh hope

—–

Fresh snow
falling in wintry waves
covering everything
with a pregnant hush

Hollow footsteps
melting into strange shapes
reminding me of my thoughts
on a cold Sunday morning

Closed sounds, grey feelings
Winter rising

——

Brilliant sunshine
seeping through my cold skin
like my lover’s smile

A rush of warmth
as my bones bask
in the golden glow
of life awakening

This poem leaves a comforting, easy feeling in its wake. I especially enjoyed the begining where the season “sound their silent bells.” It really set the tone for the poem.

This is different. I can’t explain it, but it feels like I’m reading the work of an Anil who is at the brink of transition.

I cannot tell you how much this fits, in time, in me, and in you (though I’m not sure just how).

    god’s seventh hope?

Fabulous snapshot. I second Lorena. The cat-dog imagery was powerful. 🙂

More power to your brilliance this year. 🙂

    Cheers

Wonderful imagery! I like how you brought winter to life.

  7. Anil says:

Ô¿Ô: thank you…I like the way you describe it!

Mermaid: You are very perceptive as always…in a sense it is…from a darker period to, hopefully, lighter times, but I did not write this in that conscious sense…these fragments are from widely differing times…

Aran: Hmm…I guess it is bit of a stretch but I meant the rainbow…get the connection, its a biblical one?

lorena: Thank you lorena as always for your lovely words…and I hope to keep on writing…

Dan Hussain: Thank you, I hope the same for you!

yvaine: Thank you…I love snow a lot…the hush and quietness it brings…that brought this on

  8. A wonderful ode to the seasons!

    Especially, I like:

    Brilliant sunshine
    seeping through my cold skin
    like my lover’s smile

    A rush of warmth
    as my bones bask
    in the golden glow
    of life awakening

I really like the way that you express the coming of spring, here. Wonderful!

Also, please stop by my site some time and say hello. I haven’t seen you around in a while.

    Bye!

  9. Reminds me of a verse written by Aurangzeb Alamgir.(mogul emporer of Hindooostan).

When In the garden, enjoy every moment
    Every moment of every day.
    Spring passes into summer,
    and summer into autumn,
And all the flowers of Henna
    Shall wither away…

But Autumn is my fav, when the cherry blossoms fall….!!
    cheers
    z.

P.S: I hope you don’t mind if I open up a portal to your blog from mine..

  10. Anil says:

AP: Thank you as always for your lovely words….I’ll surely drop in one of these days…have been busy with many things and therefore haven’t been follwing my fave blogs.

As well as describing the essence of each the seasons this piece also hints at moods.
