Twice
Too many times
I have stopped
Too many times
I have thought
Instead of
Saying what
That matters
Saying what
That counts
And now
At this moment
When I suddenly
Feel
Your presence
In my heart
Like the whiff of your perfume
Like the taste of your tongue
Like the curve of your smile
I know
For sure that
I love you
———
Those rides
On the bike
While the evening
Let off its last breath
I remember them
Those wet kisses
In the green room
While time lost
Its temper
I remember them
Those long looks
In dim diners
While love lurked
In our eyes
I remember them
Those warm hugs
On the rock
While the wind
Whispered our names
I remember them
Those silly fights
Over little words
While the days
Crept off the calendar
I remember them too
But
That last goodbye
On the road
When the sun shone
On our golden tears
I remember the most
Absolutely breathtaking poetry…simple and heartfelt. God Bless 🙂
Strong memories coming out in this one Anil. I found this bit quite evoking,
“Like the whiff of your perfume
Like the taste of your tongue
Like the curve of your smile”
And of course, the whole of the second bit.
Sigh — vraiment romantique Anil. Je pense qu’il ya beaucoup des elements personnels dans cette oeuvre…c’est vraiment evocative et belle. J’ai beaucoup aime la pensee des premiers lignes…et biensur le rhythme…
that was gorgeous and beautiful and damn, it hit a chord in me. lovely as always anil.
oh, i apologise for my profanity. 🙂
wow, that is the one that sticks out the most. the sad memories seem to win over the beautiful memories most of the time when we think of the other. i’m glad for the days i think of only the good ones.
beautiful poem.
nostalgia. best taken with tea.
ah! that was lovely!
bitter sweet and beautiful!
loved it. 🙂
This is the antidote to the blazingly hot hot heat hovering over Zurich right now. Lovely.
The last line, though the saddest, was my favorite.
Like the taste of your tongue
