Taste

Salted beans
Swirling in the green
Liquid, like
Submerged elephant-gods

I dip my finger
Into the verdant concoction
Parting the colliding
Waters, like a modern Moses

A delicate softness
A sweaty embrace
Steamy yet sublime
Wet yet velvety

I lick my finger
A twang of lime
A breath of garlic
A whisper of coriander

An invisible explosion
A subliminal movement
A steady flow of
Sensual sensations

Sigh. Food, Anil. That’s just how it should be written about. I bow to you.

A very sensual portrayal of food. Oh, that makes me hungry!

‘Parting the colliding waters like a modern Moses’…..thats superb! You find poetic expression in something as mundane as beans…and it almost makes the vegetable look good from grouse !!

    Tangibly tactile…

Psychadelic sensations. I really like the last stanza. It perfectly captures the sensation of tasting something wonderful.

    Aran: *smiles*…thank you…

ravi & Geetanjali: yes, i had posted this before on another blog, on a prev version of this blog before it had crashed and on Caferati…but this is different from all of them…I rewrote the last stanza and added a line somewhere else…hopefully this flows much better…

    :A: & gulnaz: *grins*…thank you…

rusty: actually I don’t like beans…but the first few lines flowed in to my mind…and they seemed promising enough to start…so the beans seem to fit right in to the rest of the poem!

    Jyotsna: ah, thank you…

AP: oh, you liked that part! thank you…thats great…because that part is what I had written new, compared to the older version of this poem…

    Yummy. Unusual and strong similes.
    I like the 3rd stanza, especially “a twang”, “a breath”, “a whisper.”
