Non-Sensei: Yes, the same place. Indeed, pretty unremarkable grave it was. Apparently, to prevent vandalism and graffiti writing on nearby graves they have put barriers around the grave.

The current headstone is actually a recent addition so perhaps the grave shown in the film was the previous version. The grave actually had a bust of him on the gravestone but it got stolen later in 1988.

Ah, Pere laChaise? Quite an unremarkable final resting place, no? Not like the original, which was shown in the movie.
I somehow don't remember steel barriers around it. That was in Dec 2002 though.

Interesting actually... the flower seller photo that you're referring to is adorns Mark Tully's India in Slow Motion. And since Tully's such a seller at Crossword, they always have some in stock! :D

But that picture is so very vintage McCurry, no? The book cover was the first time I'd seen it, but recognised it right off. A pic of his also on the cover of William Dalrymple's In Xanadu. Both the book and the photo are worth checking out. :-)

"Pourquoi avez-vous détruit..." (Past participle of the verb used in the past tense, remember?)
